UUM SIGNS MOU WITH SURANAREE UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY (SUT) THAILAND
UUM ONLINE: Thailand - Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), through Centre for University-Industry Collaboration (CUIC), continues to expand its international collaborative efforts by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Suranaree University of Technology (SUT), Thailand, recently. UUM was represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation), Prof Dr Noor Azizi Ismail, while SUT was represented by the Rector, Prof Dr Prasart Suebka. Apart from the signing of the MoU, UUM and SUT were also in talks over potential collaboration. Also present during the discussion were the Director of the SUT International Affairs Centre, Prof Dr Yupeng Yan as well as UUM and SUT officials. Among the matters discussed were related to the student practicum placements abroad, student exchange through mobility programme and industrial training promotion for university members of staff (LISU). Prof Dr Noor Azizi also invited the SUT academics to conduct potential researches with UUM. Also present during the ceremony were the Director of CUIC, Assoc Prof Dr Mohd Sobri Don; Deputy Director of CUIC, Dr Kamarul Bahrain Abdul Manaf and CUIC officers.
DELL-UUM NETWORKING SESSION GIVES EXPOSURE TO FINAL YEAR STUDENTS
UUM ONLINE: A total of 60 final-year students from various Schools attended the 'Dell-UUM Networking Session' held at the Seminar Hall B, Convention Centre, this morning.
Organised by the Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) Centre for University-Industry Collaboration (CUIC), the session aims to introduce students to the computer giant Dell, as well as to inform the students of the opportunity they have to undergo practical training at the company.
The Director of CUIC, Assoc. Prof. Dr Mohd Sobri Don @ A. Wahab expressed his gratitude for the interest demonstrated by the people at Dell in relation to collaborating with UUM especially in activities involving students.
"This is not the first collaboration Dell has had with UUM. Last year UUM students visited the Dell Global Business Centre Sdn Bhd.
"I hope that such cooperation will continue and more collaboration such as this can be conducted in the future. I fervently hope that the students who are involved will take the opportunity to showcase their talents not only during Q and A session alone," he said.
The students who participated in the Dell-UUM Networking Session were selected based on their academic achievement.
These students were then given a briefing on the background of Dell Global Procurement as well as Global Supply Chain Planning. They were then divided into several groups.
The delegation from Dell was led by its Senior Manager, Dell Demand Supply, Mr. William Heng who was also taken on a campus tour to the Welcome Centre and a courtesy visit to the office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation).
Also present were the Dean of Student Development and Alumni (PPA), UUM College of Business (COB), Dr. Hendrik Lamsali and UUM officials.
