Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (Matrade) has announced the appointment of Mohd Mustafa Abdul Aziz as its new chief executive officer following the retirement of Datuk Wan Latiff Wan Musa today.
In a statement, Matrade said Mustafa will assume the new responsibility starting tomorrow.
Mustafa, previously the deputy CEO (export acceleration) of Matrade, has extensive knowledge in international trade and has held various positions within the organisation, including leading the markets of Asean and Australasia, China and Northeast Asia, Central Asia, West Asia, South Asia and Africa.
He also led the Professional and Business Services section as well as the Mid-Tier Companies Development and SMEs Go-Ex section.
He was also actively involved in various committees for trade and export development to the economic advancement of Malaysia.
Mustafa began his 30-year career in the civil service with the Foreign Ministry, followed by the Economic Planning Unit in the Prime Minister’s Department before joining Matrade in June 1994, where he played integral roles in export promotions.
His career highlights included serving 14 years abroad as a trade commissioner at Matrade Paris, Dubai and Tokyo, and as a senior trade commissioner in New York and Dubai for the second time, where he accumulated extensive skills and experience in international trade.
Passionate in initiating and leading change, strengthening operations, driving results and innovating, Mustafa is committed to transforming Matrade by creating more value through collaborative efforts for both exporters and the respective stakeholders.

With a background focusing on aerospace, Naguib Mohd Nor started his career as a Structures Engineer in the UK, and had done wide ranging technical work for major aerospace clients. In 2006, he founded STRAND Aerospace Malaysia Sdn Bhd (SAM), an engineering and consulting services provider, specialising in aerospace, mechanical, civil, business consultancy and training. SAM has been continuously involved in both private and government projects such as Economic Transformation Programme (ETP), where Naguib was appointed as the Steering Committee. He also sits on the Board of Advisors for several Engineering Faculties of Malaysian universities.
In 2013, Naguib was appointed as the Chief Technical Officer for MAT, a wholly owned subsidiary under the Council of Trust (MARA), overseeing the development of Asia Aerospace City (AAC). Later in 2016, he was selected to sit for President of the Malaysia Aerospace Industry Association (MAIA).

Born and raised in Nibong Tebal, Pulau Pinang, this youngest of three siblings received his early education at S.K. Methodist and S.M.K. Methodist. After completing STPM, he then pursued tertiary education at University Putra Malaysia.
Prior to his role as a Network Manager at Media Prima Radio Networks (“MPRN”) in 2005, Seelan gained his exposure to the media industry in 1998 as he became the radio announcer for Era FM alongside Halim Othman and Linda Onn. He also had the opportunity to be an actor as well as a host for tv programmes.
Packed with resilience and drive, he has elevated his career to a Chief Operating Officer in 2009 and subsequently to the Chief Executive Officer of RIPPLE in 2011. Seelan, an MBA graduate of Cardiff Metropolitan University, has played an integral role in setting up Hot FM, One FM and Kool FM.
A big believer in delivering great content across multiple platforms, Seelan has spearheaded the radio team through multiple transformations over the digital era to be relevant to the current audience. He has also led the team to innovate and RIPPLE has been among the first in the region to launch an audio programmatic platform, integrating Whatsapp as part of daily communication tool with audience and collaboration with global streaming players such as Spotify and Joox.
In recognition of his contribution to the local radio industry, Seelan was appointed President of Commercial Radio Malaysia in October 2015. He was also a Committee Member of the National Football Development Programme Malaysia.
Thomas brings with him more than 30 years of experience in corporate management, business strategy, and risk management. He began his career as a banker, holding management positions in the corporate and commercial banking divisions of several local commercial banks, from where he joined Pengurusan Dan harta Nasional Berhad (Dana harta), Malaysia's asset management company in 1998. He was initially involved in loan restructuring and thereafter headed its risk management unit, prior to its successful closure in 2005. Thomas then joined the MBF Holdings group of companies, initially as its Chief Operating Officer and thereafter as its President. Thomas then assumed the role of Group Finance Director at Ben Holdings group in Sri Lanka, an established retail, media and theatre group, where he oversaw all aspects of Finance, Treasury, Legal, Human Resources, Risk Management, Audit, and IT. Thomas holds a Bachelor of Science in Agribusiness from Universiti Putra Malaysia.
Dato’ Haji Zainul Rijal holds a respected position in the Malaysian Muslim Lawyers Association (Persatuan Peguam – Peguam Muslim Malaysia, PPMM). As the president, he successfully led the association with various accomplishments which he was then awarded an honorary medal and order (Pingat Ahli Mangku Negara and Dato’ Paduka Mahkota Perak) in 2007 and 2011, respectively. Islamic Family Law, Law of the Code of Conduct, Jurisdiction, and Islamic Banking and Muamalat are the areas of his specialization and expertise.
Besides being an active leader for an Islamic NGO, he never fails to share his thoughts and ideas, writing as a columnist for local newspapers and often being invited as a special guest on television programmes to provide his insights on issues relating to laws and sharia laws.
